Abortions Resume in Wisconsin

(Originally published 9/23/23)

As you know, on the 23rd of September, Planned Parenthood resumed preforming abortions in Wisconsin. This is due to Circuit Court Judge Diane Schlipper of Dane County ruling that the 1849 abortion ban in Wisconsin only applies to “infanticide”, and not “abortion”.

Planned Parenthood has taken this ruling as permission to resume preforming abortions, relying on the now pro-abortion majority of the State Supreme Court to uphold Judge Schlipper’s decision should any challenge to this ruling be brought before that court. This disingenuous distinction between abortion and infanticide is not only an affront to the integrity of our state’s legal system, but an affront to the dignity of human life.

Friends, our fight is far from over. Instead of seeing the Dobbs decision as an end to our work, we must look at it as the start of an even more difficult challenge. Instead of just one federal government, we must now change our focus to ensuring that fifty individual state governments will uphold the rights of all people from conception until natural death. In our very own state, we see that the victory of the Dobbs decision was far from final, and that our most difficult task still lies ahead.

It is not only up to our political leaders and activists to do this work, but also up to each and every one of you. Every time that you speak out against abortion, donate to pro-life organizations and crisis pregnancy centers, volunteer for events such as Life Chain, and support pro-life candidates, you personally contribute to helping save the unborn. Without your help, groups like us can only do so much. It is up to each and every one of you to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.
